Tapered Section DIN Metric Circlips and Retaining Rings

Materials:
Type P/N Suffix Reference Spec Description
Carbon Spring Steel (none) DIN 17221-17223 Standard material for tapered section DIN metric circlips.
Stainless Steel SS DIN 1.4122 Standard grade of stainless for DIN metric circlips. Stainless steel with very good wear and corrosion reistance. Similar properties and characteristics to 420 stainless steel.
Beryllium Copper C Alloy #25 Copper alloy with extremely high resistance to most atmospheric corrosion.
Phosphor Bronze PB PB102 or CUSN8 PB102 is a Phosphor Bronze made up mainly of Copper. Zinc and Tin are sometimes added to improve circlip strength, hardness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

Finishes:
Type P/N Suffix Reference Spec Description
Phosphate (none) Default finish for retaining rings and circlips made from carbon steel material.
Dry Phosphate DP Phosphate finish with dry to the touch oil.
Plain Finish (no Phospate) SF Part supplied without standard phosphate finish. Will negatively affect rings corrosion resistance.
Zinc Dichromate ZD ASTM B695, Class 5, Type II Mechanically applied zinc plating with a dichromate dip. Color varies.
Zinc Dichromate + Lacquer ZDL Same as zinc dichromate (ZD) with added lacquer for extending corrosion resistance.
Zinc Clear Chromate ZF ASTM B695, Class 5, Type I Mechanically applied zinc plating with a clear chromate dip. Color is typically bright silver.
Zinc Trivalent ZT ASTM B695, Class 5, Type I Mechanically applied zinc plating. Plating is RoHS compliant.
Cadmium Dichromate MD AMS QQ P-416, Type II, Class 2 Cadmium plating with a dichromate dip. Ideal for surfaces exposed to stagnant water, salt water, marine atmospheres.
Cadmium Clear Chromate MF AMS QQ P-416, Type II, Class 1 Cadmium plating with an iridite dip (clear).
Nickle Plated NI Bright silver coating.
Black Oxide BX MIL-C-13924 Class 1 Produces a uniform satin black finish on carbon steel. Its corrosion resistance is inferior to phosphate. Cannot be applied to stainless steel.

Packaging:
Type P/N Suffix Reference Spec Description
Bulk (none) Default packaging
Tape Stacked TPD Rings are stacked and aligned, then special tape is used to hold stack in place. Availability of tape stacking is dependent on ring size and finish.
Stacked STK Rings are stacked and aligned, then held in place using either rods, wire or shrink wrap depending on availability and customer preference.
